What is a SKILLEDOM Apprenticeship?

A SKILLEDOM Apprenticeship is an employment based training arrangement where there is an opportunity to combine practical experience in the workplace with structured training.

Apprenticeship training can be undertaken on-the-job, off-the-job or as a combination of both. The pattern of training is negotiated with SKILLEDOM’s clients in consultation with SKILLEDOM’s local training provider.

Apprenticeships offer a real advantage by providing a nationally recognized qualification and skills, which provide the basis for further education and training.

In most cases, where an Apprenticeship is obtained through SKILLEDOM, the State Training Authority will pay for the training costs.

How to Qualify

Most apprenticeships and traineeships require basic numeracy and literacy skills. Completion of year 10 is usually the required standard, however, an interest or flair for a particular industry is also a major consideration.

Depending on the type of Apprenticeship, some additional criteria may need to be satisfied, eg: some previous training, higher level of education.
